Internal combustion counterbalanced lift trucks
Gasoline, liquid propane, compressed natural gas or diesel could be utilized to power an internal combustion engine truck. Lift trucks that are powered by gasoline or diesel are usually big trucks designed for outdoor application. They have either pneumatic tires appropriate for driving on rough terrain and steep inclines, or cushion tires made of solid rubber suited to driving on floors indoors.

The ITA categorizes internal combustion counterbalanced lift trucks with cushion tires as Class 4 trucks. Class 5 are trucks which have pneumatic tires.

Liquid propane is normally used to fuel indoor lift trucks. These kinds of trucks have some benefits. They can provide consistent power during operation and are capable of achieving higher speeds. They don't have to be refueled as frequently as lift trucks powered by other sources. Propane cylinders don't take up a lot of space and could be stored anywhere. The cylinders can be switched out quite easily by a skilled operator.

Internal combustion trucks are easily refueled and this is its advantage. The drawbacks are air-pollution and too much noise.
