Be Alert When Operating a Forklift Truck
A lift truck is a huge piece of machinery and hence safety precautions should be taken when using these kinds ofthese types of trucks. Forklift operators are required by law to be trained and certified to drive the equipment. Anybody who misuses a lift truck truck could be charged with an offence. Misuse of this potentially dangerous machinery could cause fatality or serious injury. Safe use of a lift truck truck involves paying complete attention both to what is happening inside the vehicle and to what is happening around the vehicle. Not unlike driving a car, operating a forklift requires being aware of other vehicles and pedestrians and keeping your attention on the road.

Essential forklift driving guidelines
Worksite mishaps are all too common. On the other hand, many mishaps are avoidable by lessening the chances while working with equipment which are dangerous and heavy.

Rough surfaces and drops are commonly encountered while operating a forklift since most operating surfaces are relatively rough and uneven. The largest dangers are commonly dock bridges, dock platforms, pot holes, bumps, ramps and inclines. Forklifts are designed to handle surfaces which are uneven, but it is the operators responsibility to keep control of the truck and to be on the lookout for these dangers.

Visibility is among the important factors in lift truck accidents. The operator is responsible for ensuring clear visibility when using a forklift by checking that mirrors are positioned correctly and that all windows are unobstructed and clean. If a load is placed in such a way that it obstructs visibility for the operator, then the driver needs to put the forklift in reverse and back down the ramp carefully.

Operators are required by law to make sure that daily checks are made to the lift truck and its parts. Weekly, more thorough inspections must also be conducted. The tires, forks, engine, brakes and the rest must always be checked so as to ensure that they are properly working. Correct inspections could help to prevent accidents and injury.
