A kind of machinery in the material handling business which could be used to raise and transport loads from one place to another is referred to as a forklift. Each part of a forklift has a specific function. Different components can be utilized to transport the load vertically or horizontally.

Mast
The parts used to lower and lift the load is known as the forklift mast. There are different types of masts for lifting loads to various heights: triplex, quad, simplex and duplex.

Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: gas, electric, diesel and propane. The battery is located in the cab under the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the back of the truck.

Cab
The forklift cab is situated within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The steering wheel, gas pedal, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all situated inside the cab.

Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift components is the truck frame. This includes the counterweights located at the back which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
