The forklift is an essential piece of machine in most companies which operate distribution centers, warehouses, industrial and storage handling plants. This wonder machine, the forklift is constructed of numerous parts, like the essential carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Lift trucks generally have various kinds of attachments as well. The following are several of the most essential forklift parts.
Forklift Engine - At the back of the equipment, the forklift has its power source. The various types of engine on the forklift will need varying power sources. Like for example, a lift truck with an IC engine can have as its power source any of the following: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - The truck frame is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the forklift parts. This forms the core of the equipment. All other forklift components are connected to the base, like for instance the overhead guard, counterweight, axles, mast and wheels. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks can be part of the frame assembly also.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - While lifting heavy loads, the counterweight allows the machine to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck gives balance and could function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks will sometimes have closed cabs whilst others would be open to the air. There are really many parts situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like the pedals, seats, levers, switches, steering wheel and operator controls. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
