The type of vehicle usually found within factories, warehouses and various work sites where moving heavy materials from one location to another is necessary is referred to as a forklift. The mast is the mechanism located on the front of the forklift that hydraulically raises and lowers the load. The "cat" is the protected area where the driver of the forklift sits.
Forklifts are capable of carrying loads between one and five tons in weight. Various types could be used to lift shipping containers and much heavier loads.
Forklift tires must be checked and maintained on a regular basis. The kinds of tires on various forklifts differ based on factors like frequency of use, load weights and ground surfaces. Every forklift driver should have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
Perform tire inspections regularly. Watch for indications of wear and damage to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40%, it needs to be replaced.
When purchasing tires, ensure that you are purchasing the correct type - polyurethane, solid or pneumatic.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and raise the forklift high enough that you can change the tires easily.
You can utilize the tire press to pull the tire from the rim and remove the damaged tire. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you just have one jack, lower the forklift, and then reposition the jack at the next tire.
On-site tire repair can be performed by a repair company. If the tire is extremely big for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the tire which is damaged must be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
