Different Types of Aerial Lift
A particular type of heavy machine which allows a person to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These machines are typically utilized to complete repairs on areas which are high up in the air like on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Like most tools, there are different kinds of aerial lifts that can be utilized to complete various tasks. For the utmost safety, every type of different type of equipment needs proper training and specific certification before operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic form of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mostly utilized indoors. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts can be driven similar to big carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they could not be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody could use these tools, workers must be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a a lot more complex type of aerial lift equipment compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift normally has a much wider base in order to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket which enables the operator to lower and lift the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it could move from side to side also. The boom lift resembles a metal scorpion's tail. Traditionally, it is used in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, hence, operators must be certified individually for these kinds of lifts.
