Forklift Tire Specs
Since 1917, important tools utilized in commercial businesses and industry are forklifts. During its history the forklift has evolved through different forms, from a tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also evolved into particular tires, with various types designed to meet particular functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of solid polyurethane or rubber and is best for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated for different load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are commonly used in warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with foam or air. They are offered in two kinds: bias or radial. Depending on the use, they are offered with different tread depths, weight and sidewall protection. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires are less susceptible to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are usually utilized outdoors on uneven, rough surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the puncture resistance of a solid tire with the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire. They are a great option to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are big rubber tires which could either be solid, pneumatic or foam. These tires are best for transporting and loading heavy items onto trucks or into processing machines. Large flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts normally used at lumberyards, construction locations and automobile recyclers.
