How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when trying to perform tasks that would have otherwise needed working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular equipment make it the right option for carrying tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machinery. These batteries will need to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The equipment needs to be positioned near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located in the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, older models will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
