Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in several types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is commonly used. This model consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is required within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and could increase production while making the most of available storage space.
