Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to work in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn in the aisle. There are several aisle widths to take into account with different units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks can operate in less than 6 feet areas, whilst some would utilize certain guidance systems such as wire, optical or rail systems in order to travel within the aisles. Some different models of VNA trucks include Order Selectors, Turret Trucks and Swing Masts. These are common models in compact retail spaces and in several storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks could operate within aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Normally these are stand-up units such as Reach Trucks. They are often utilized in warehouses and storage facilities.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard which is made to lessen operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is spacious and has an 8" low step height which helps reduce overall body fatigue by easing frequent entry and exit. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and thus more effective while limiting exhaustion.
